Volunteer Opportunities at Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries
Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries has many wonderful and talented volunteers working together to assist our friends and neighbors in need. Consider finding your place among this dedicated staff and community of volunteers. Below are listed just some of the many ways you might serve, as well as descriptions of each, which we hope will help you choose the place just right for you.
Training will be provided and lots of encouragement as you find your way. We do ask that you make a commitment of 3 months or more and that you keep us aware of any changes in your schedule.
1. Trainer of Volunteers for Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen: Work with Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen Volunteers as needed
2. Food Servers in Soup Kitchen: Serve Food to Guests
3. Holiday Food Servers-lunches served at Waterbury Baptist/First Congregational Church: Serve Food to Guests
4. Food Distributors-Food Pantry: Hand Out Bags of Food
5. Food Pantry Bagger-Food Pantry: Pack Food Bags
6. Food Pantry Receptionist-Food Pantry: Answer Phone, Take Messages and Properly Distribute Messages
7. Food Pick-up for Food Pantry from off site Donors: Pick-up Food and Deliver to Food Pantry at St. John's Church
8. Food Pantry File Clerk: File Hard Copies of Client Intakes
9. Parking Lot Monitor for Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen: Monitor Traffic Coming into St. John's Parking Area
10. Cleaner for Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen: Clean and Sanitize Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen
Other Volunteer needs include: Speakers, Fundraisers, Event Planners, Mailings, Promotion Design and many more.
